HeartbeatInk visited the 9th International London Tattoo Convention, held at the Tobaco Dock on September 27th, 28th and 29th. Three beautifully long days, full of tattoos, tattoo artists and tattoo collectors. There was also further entertainment with live music and live burlesque, pin up and more shows.
The convention had over 20.000 visitors and 320 tattoo artists were tattooing from all over the world; from Australia and Asia to Europe and the US. The convention overall was “bigger” compared to previous years, as there were 30 additional tattoo artists and there were also some new rooms, like the great gallery room. The location for the hand – tap tattooers was changed too, in order to give them more relevance, as Miki Vialetto (London tattoo convention organizer and “Tattoo Life” publisher) explained to HeartbeatInk. Miki also told us that the three most popular tattoo styles appeared to be Black & Grey, Traditional and Japanese.
We came across many visitors from various countries, various social backgrounds and various ages; we saw many families with their kids. We were impressed by the numerous facial and neck tattoos among people. The Greek tattoo scene was represented by Kostas Tzikalagias, Alex Gotza, Sake, George Mavridis and Live2.
HeartbeatInk had the great opportunity to meet, talk and photograph amazing, tattooed people. We look forward for next year's 10th convention on the 26th, 27th and 28th of September 2014.
